Having been raised on a farm, Steven Lachenmayr developed a great love of the outdoors and God’s creation. Steven is a people person, and as you get to know him, you will see that he loves nothing more than sharing his passion for the great outdoors and especially land stewardship. There is always much to learn from a conversation with Steven!

One of Steven’s outdoor passions is bow hunting. Forty-nine years ago, he gave up the guns and has strictly pursued whitetail with his bow. This decision has led to many blessings, including meeting many wonderful people, experiencing the ephemeral beauty of a November sunrise, and beholding the majesty of the whitetail buck. In this time, Steven has become a very proficient hunter and has taken more than his fair share of trophy bucks. One important thing he has learned has been to balance his hunting, his work, and his family life. Today, Steven and his wife, Mattie, work to enjoy life each day as they walk with the Lord.

The Lord blessed Steven with a tract of land to mold and shape. From the very beginning, his goal was to make it the very best whitetail habit it could be. This entailed planting thousands of trees and bushes, dozens of acres of warm season grasses and acre after acre of food plots.

Steven found great success, not only in taking mature whitetails, but also in being recognized as “Conservation Landowner of the Year” in Region Five by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. In 2013, Steven was also honored to receive the “Conservationist of the Year” award for Crawford County, Illinois. Throughout this incredible journey, Steven found that as he molded the land, the land molded him.

In addition to bow hunting, Steven also enjoys many other hobbies including fishing, kayaking, bee keeping, the great sport of golf, and grilling (especially a good brisket!).

Steven has a lifetime of experience in business. Over the years, he has owned a small farm, an archery retail store, a construction company, a small-town Sears store, a tire and automotive service center, a full-service tree company, a fiber optic line boring and installation company, and multiple rental properties. In these endeavors, Steven learned the value of hard work, customer service and attention to detail; all things he has brought with him to the world of real estate.

Today, Steven has brought all this knowledge, passion, and experience to Mossy Oak Properties Tennessee Land and Farm. He has the skill to help landowners get their properties marketed and sold, and he loves helping buyers start their journey of land ownership, knowing first-hand that a truly rewarding and life-changing experience awaits them.
